‘Early innate immunity against mycobacterial infection’
Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination fails to consistently prevent Tuberculosis(TB). To improve vaccination, early events of immune responses which either progress to disease or enhance control of lung bacilli must be identified.
Findings provide explanation for how the phagocyte response is enhanced independently of adaptive immune cells, and opportunities for exploiting trained innate immunity to improve vaccination against TB.
