Tuesday 24 March is World TB Day, and this year the United Nations, the Stop TB Partnership and the World Health Organization are calling on all governments and health organisations to mobilise political and social commitment to combating tuberculosis. With nine million new cases and 1.5 million deaths each year, TB is an ongoing epidemic.
Drug-resistant TB has been detected in more than 100 countries worldwide, and is a threat to much of the progress that has already been made. Kiel Hards, PhD student in the Cook Lab, talks about how raising awareness can support scientific efforts.
