Associate Professor Peter Fineran spoke at last week’s ComBio conference as the winner of this year's Custom Science NZSBMB Award, presented by the New Zealand Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
The Custom Science NZSBMB Award, as the Society's premier prize, consists of a $1,000 cash prize, registration and airfares to attend ComBio 2015 in Melbourne (the annual NZSBMB conference), and a $2,000 travel grant to attend a conference of the winner's choosing. The award was made on the basis of work published by Peter’s research team during the previous three-year period. Peter presented his group’s research on how bacteria resist both infection by viruses and acquisition of plasmids.
