The Microbiology building is home to state-of-the-art laboratories that are set up for the benefit of our undergraduate classes.

The academic staff of our department have developed a reputation for consistently coming out on top in the university's teaching awards and evaluations. In 2015 two of our teaching staff were formally recognised for their teaching excellence with prestigious national teaching awards. Special mention to Associate Professor Ros Kemp who has won numerous teaching awards and honours.
2015 - Associate Professor Ros Kemp is presented with the National Excellence in Tertiary Teaching award by Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce.
