Dr Jen Robson (jennifer.robson@otago.ac.nz) and Dr Htin Aung (htin.aung@otago.ac.nz) are the Department of Microbiology and Immunology Pacific Island Support persons. Jen and Htin are here to ensure that Pacific Island students maximise their full potential by providing academic guidance, helping them access pastoral support and providing assistance with advocacy and scholarships. They liaise with the Division of Sciences, the Division of Health Sciences and the Pacific Islands Centre, to support the ‘Dare to be Wise’ academic mentoring programme, direct students to free extra tutorials, and promote Pacific social events throughout the year.
